Fresno's Outlying Japanese American Businesses of 1940

Notes:

From its early days, Fresno was segregated along the Southern Pacific railroad tracks; Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, and other people of color generally had to live in Chinatown or West Fresno. The 1940 directory lists numerous businesses in West Fresno a small handful downtown and a couple farther north or east. Here is a sampling of sites that were extant in 2007.
